WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORTS

Every Saturday the Walt Disney World Facebook page sends out a post to show off the benefits for one of the Resorts on property.

Scope: This post highlighted the benefits of staying on property in a Disney Resort and receiving a complimentary MagicBand.

Role: Motion Designer and Illustrator. For this assignment I worked with a fellow motion designer, Jorge Aguilar, to design / illustrate the look and feel of this video. We were permitted creative freedom for this one which allowed us to try out a new transition. As the MagicBand touches to the touch point in each scene, the background separates into layers to reveal the next scene.

Above - Sketches of different MagicBand touchpoint options around Walt Disney World. In the original idea I included pool access but took it out because I wanted to just focus on the main uses for the MagicBands.

Right - This is what each scene looked like before it was cropped for the animation.

Role: Motion Designer, Director of Photography, and Editor. With the idea of "subtle motion" in mind, my boss and I set out to the Grand Floridian Resort early one morning to capture the decorated Easter eggs. Using a slider and Nikon D5100 we took multiple videos and hyperlapses of the eggs. I am always excited when I get to visit a resort or park to work on a project and even more excited when I get to work on a hyperlapse.

Scope: Experience the action of the big game all year long when you stay in the middle of the magic at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort!

Role: Motion Designer. This post was designed with the theming of sports in mind. Playing with the style "hand drawn" graphics used by sports commentators I began the video with the classic 'X' and 'O' you'd see during games. We pan down to the field that rest in the middle of the resort so Guest can get a feel of what it would be like to stay at the resort.

Scope: Staying at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa puts you within a rainbow's reach of Disney Springs.

Role: Motion Designer. This resort post was designed to show Guest how close they would be to Disney Springs if they book a resort stay at Saratoga Springs. Because it was posted around St. Patricks Day I used a rainbow as a transition device to leap the viewer between Saratoga Springs and Raglan Road Irish Pub at Disney Springs. Below is an wide shot of my After Effects comp to show the path along which I animated the camera.
